Some classic scams are used widely around the globe; but some are very specific to an area.

Example A: “The Splatter”: Mustard / Ketchup / Bird Poo / Dirty Water/ Scam is a widely used scam:

“A scam that relies on travellers disgust at having a foul-smelling / weird looking substance that suddenly appears on them. Scammer secretly spills ‘the something’ on trusting tourists, and then offers to help them clean it off. While helping he steals valuables off of the tourist without tourist even noticing it.”

Example B: A Camel Ride Scam– specific to countries such as Egypt or Morocco:

"Close to touristic areas you often see camel owners who offer camel ride for free. When you mounted the animal you realize the camel does not obey you. Now you are in power of its owner a couple of meters above the surface of the earth without a chance of escape. Usually you are brought some meters away from your bus. Away from your fellow tourists the camel owner starts to negotiate the price for you to get down. Either you will pay and the camels owner will order the animal to kneel down or you will need to jump down charge-free. FYI, the average height of a camel is 7 feet (2.15m)."
